The Inn

The common areas of McKenna's Inn provide just the right combination of secluded privacy and 'meet and greet' atmosphere that can make a bed and breakfast stay so very interesting and memorable.

On the first floor guests will find the delightful wraparound porch which has played a part in drawing so many people back to the inn for repeat visits. There are comfortable seating areas with tables, a large porch swing, and cafe' tables which are perfect for breakfasting al fresco. Additionally, there are beach towels and beach chairs available on the porch.

Inside the main entrance is the great room.  Dominated by a large limestone fireplace with stones hand picked by the founder of the inn, Walt McKenna, it is a very nice place to relax, especially in winter with a blazing fire hard at work to warm guests and innkeepers alike. In the great room, one will find the movie cabinet with a selection of around 90 films, and the entrance to the kitchen.

Up one flight of stairs to the second floor and guests will find the Library. Added in 2003, it is home to Joe and Becky's personal collection of books which guests are more than welcome to borrow during their stay. The library affords access to the second floor indoor balcony which has a space for sitting, reading, contemplating, or just to watch the fire in winter. The balcony is also home to Becky's collection of child's chairs. Many family mementos, antiques, and photos from both the McKenna and Jessen families can be seen throughout the inn. From the second floor, guests can also gain access to a public porch with seating for two.

The third floor of the inn is where three of the four guest rooms are located. It is also where the final public room, the sitting room,  can be found. Becky's discerning eye made for a very pleasantly decorated room. More comfortable seating, snacks in the basket, and wine glasses on the shelf are available.

The kitchen is open for breakfast from eight o'clock a.m. until 10 o'clock a.m. A full breakfast is served including a hot main course and many choices for other items in addition. Some examples of typical breakfast items at McKenna's Inn include: Banana pancakes with toffee walnut sauce, maple sausage, Broccoli/bacon/cheddar quiche, sticky buns, scones of all kinds, buttermilk waffles, cold cereal, english muffins, strawberries, mangos, melon, cherries, blueberries, catawba peaches, pineapple, coffee, tea, orange juice, and a selection of sorbets in summer (our favorite so far - cardamom pear).
